Hello!

We are a community that is all about Jesus.

Welcome to St Johns Wishart

It's a great joy and delight to welcome you to our website. We are a church that is all about connecting people to God through Christ. That is, we are all about Jesus!

We believe that we have been designed to be in relationship with God and that Jesus is the key to making that happen. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we can now be in a completely free relationship with God because all that separates us from Him has been destroyed. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, not even death.

Through life's constant struggles, uncertainties, and constant changes we can have the phenomenal peace and assurance of God's love for us and His presence with us by the Holy Spirit.

If you have any questions about faith, spirituality, belief, or about Jesus, I would love to hear from you. Please drop me an email or book in a time to chat and I would love to share with you how Jesus is the answer to life's questions.

Our Values, Mission, and Vision

At St John's, we want to glorify God through centring on His word. Therefore we value:

  • Biblical Teaching - We value teaching that seeks to understand God’s revelation of himself to us in individual books of the Bible and through the whole context of Scripture.
  • Prayerful Dependence - We value praying to God as both a privilege and a responsibility for the individual and the whole church.
  • Care - We value care for one another as members of one family in Jesus Christ.
  • Intergenerational - We value people of different generations and look for opportunities both to minister to different generations and to foster relationships between gpenerations.
  • Serving with Gifts - We value the people God has given us with their various gifts, skills and talents. We want to use the gifts he has entrusted to us to serve Him and each other.
  • Mission-Driven - We value the gospel and want it to shape our thinking and our work together so that we might see a community that knows the freedom and life that are in Christ alone.

By God's grace, we long to...

BELONG

A truly relational, intergenerational community from diverse cultural backgrounds where most people belong to home groups and actively maintain connections as a church family. We want to be a community hub that reaches and keeps families and is a place where we can invite friends.

BELIEVE

A gospel growing church where there is a vibrant prayer focus on God’s will for church and community. A place where we believe in encouraging, using, supporting and rejoicing in each other’s gifts and we
gather to spur one another on to grow in our belief in our sovereign Lord.

BECOME

A church that trains its members to become more Christ-like, to proclaim Christ boldly and to use our diverse gifts to serve the Lord Jesus. We want to become a church that resources children’s and youth ministry, including RI in schools. We gather to spur one another on to grow in our belief in our sovereign Lord.

Child Safety

At St Johns, we're committed to creating an environment of safety and wellbeing for every single person, especially those who are most vulnerable.

As part of this, our Parish has implemented a Child Protection Risk Management Plan to assist in protecting our children and other vulnerable people from harm in our church. This includes the screening of clergy, staff, volunteers, and office holders in our parish by using the Queensland Government's Blue Card Services. A Code of Conduct and an Anglican Church Southern Queensland's safe ministry check is provided for all people working with children. If anything is worrying you, please contact one of the following:

  • Rhys Wellings
  • Penny Miles

You can also access all documents and relevant policies regarding our Diocesan approach to professional standards and child safety here.
